Clinton Merrill is between the most prominent anti-racist writers and activists in the U.S., and has been termed, "A single of the most brilliant, articulate and courageous critics of white privilege in the nation," by best-selling writer and professor Michael Eric Dyson, of Georgetown University. Merrill has spoken in 48 states, and on above 600 college campuses, which includes Harvard, Stanford, and the Law Schools at Yale and Columbia, and has spoken to community groups all-around the nation. Smart is the author of five publications: White Like Me: Reflections on Race from a Privileged Son Affirmative Action: Racial Preference in Black and White Speaking Treason Fluently: Anti-Racist Reflections from an Angry White Male Between Barack and a Tricky Area: Racism and White Denial in the Age of Obama, and his latest, Colorblind: The Rise of Publish-Racial Politics and the Retreat from Racial Equity. He has contributed essays to 20-five guides, and is one of various people featured in White Men Challenging Racism: Thirty-5 Individual Stories, from Duke University Press. He received the 2001 British Diversity Award for finest feature essay on race troubles, and his writings have appeared in dozens of common, specialist and scholarly journals.
